How does someone learn to write? By writing. How do you learn to write well? When you have a professional looking over your shoulder. How can that be possible on the Web? We plan to find out.

Hi Michael, I read your comment over at Write To Done regarding Nanowrimo and your long term experience participating in it. I am 23, never taken part in Nanowrimo, left my job recently to give a shot at writing. I read the argument that "Nanowrimo is a waste of time for people serious about writing", could you clarify if there is any truth behind this line of thinking?
Many people will never make money as professional writers until they can learn to just write, and not edit until later. That's what Nanowrimo teaches you to do. So many people are possessed by "internal editors" capable of causing fatal writer's block within a few seconds. Of course, good writing is mostly editing, but Nanowrimo certainly gives you a lot of words to edit if you want.
